CELEBRATE CHINESE NEW YEAR WITH CHINA TEAS FROM TWININGS
We are celebrating Chinese New Year, which falls on 5 February this year, with our amazing range of Chinese teas.
CHINESE NEW YEAR
Chinese New Year is celebrated by Chinese communities all over the world. Looking at the event calendars of many great cities across the UK, there are some fabulous events and activities that you can get involved in to celebrate this beautiful tradition. Chinese New Year is based on the Chinese lunar calendar so its date shifts in the Western (Gregorian) calendar every year. It’s a very important, centuries old Chinese holiday that lasts for 15 days. It starts between 21 January and 20 February, on the second new moon after the winter solstice. It is a festival to honour deities and ancestors. A holiday for visiting family and friends, gift giving and (of course) fireworks! It’s celebrated in China and in many regions of South East Asia.
2019 YEAR OF THE PIG
2019 is the Year of the Pig according to Chinese zodiac. This is a Year of Earth Pig, starting from Feb. 5, 2019 (Chinese New Year) and lasting until Jan. 24, 2020.
Pig is the twelfth in the 12-year cycle of Chinese zodiac sign. The Years of the Pig include 1923, 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983, 1995, 2007, 2019, 2031, 2043...
Pig is not thought to be a smart animal in China. It likes sleeping and eating and becomes fat. Thus it usually features laziness and clumsiness. On the positive side, it behaves itself, has no plan to harm others, and can bring affluence to people. Consequently, it has been regarded as wealth.
TWININGS CHINA ROSE BLACK TEA
In keeping with Chinese New Year, our China Rose blend is inspired by heritage and tradition.
Tea was discovered in China over 2000 years ago and roses have been growing there for centuries, even millennia. Combining tea with roses therefore seemed destined to work perfectly together.
This delicious blend has a floral taste with a subtle sweetness. The light China tea is perfect with the delicate rose.
