Our Story

Jacksons of Piccadilly was established over 200 years ago by Robert Jackson. Jackson had a passion for tea. He was enthused by the exotic beverage and using his innovative foresight, Jackson created one of the first preblended teas using the finest quality ingredients in the world.

Jackson exhibited his teas in his Piccadilly warehouse throughout the 19th and early 20th centuries building a widely acclaimed reputation for supplying the finest quality teas.

Today Jacksons of Piccadilly continues to produce speciality teas worldwide and continues to support over 114,000 producers and their families with their connection to the Fairtrade charity.

History Timeline

1741. The Jackson family were first linked with Piccadilly in the 1680’s. They were known as purveyors of luxury goods and for their expertise as cheese mongers, cloth cutters, herbalists, hosiers (stocking sellers), booksellers, wax and tallow chandlers & oil men.

1800. Tea was a new, exciting and exotic beverage in the UK. Although it was usual for people to blend the teas at home, Robert Jackson used his great foresight and developed a range of pre-blended teas.

1815. Robert Jackson was established as a fine blender of tea.

1890. The Jacksons Blends were even a favourite of Royalty and gained the right to use the royal warrant.

2008. Jacksons of Piccadilly began the journey to becoming a Fairtrade Brand and we are proud to say that all teas and infusions in the Jacksons range are now Fairtrade.

2009. Jacksons launched a new Mainstream Blend, the speciality tea range (Kenyan, Darjeeling, Assam and Ceylon Earl Grey), along with two new Green Tea blends (Green and Lime and Green and Elderflower) all Fairtrade certified.

Jacksons of Piccadilly have been proud supporters of the Fairtrade Foundation for 10 years, challenging the status quo every day to help improve conditions and wages for workers on tea estates. Being ethically responsible is important to Jacksons and with your help, over £6m Fairtrade premiums have been generated.
